Jenny Willott - Standing up for Cardiff Central

ID Cards a Waste of Money

12.00.00am GMT Thu 8th Nov 2007

Responding to the Government's latest estimate on the cost of ID Cards, Jenny Willott MP said:

"This is a huge amount of money to waste in a scheme that won't make anyone safer but make people's personal information more vulnerable.

"The simple fact that the costs keep fluctuating shows how loose a grip the Government has got on the finances of this unwise scheme.

"The Government should scrap this grandiose Identity Cards project and spend the money on something that will actually cut crime - more police on the street."
